Neighbors revisited

Back in the spring I posted up on my neighbors wildflower landscaping. Wildflower gardens are rare in urban neighborhoods. This garden is located in west Berkeley. Here's a follow up on the development of the garden.

The wildflowers have an under planting of perennial plants and shrubs, that's the green you see now.
Our street trees are Sycamores. They drop leaves constantly. It's really unpleasant. In my own garden I have found I have to wear a mask because the fallen leaves have a lot of dust and pollution that they bring down and it irritates me. Also, I can't really plant short or small plants as they get buried by the leaves in between clean ups. I get a break in the winter when the trees are defoliated.
I like that the garden next door is seasonal and will have a big show during the spring and then go quiet for the rest of the year. I like the variety. I like seeing nature in action, even if it means a wait.
